Simbarashe E. Mangwengwende (Executive)
Simba is a highly experienced Electrical Power Engineer with over 26 years experience in the electricity supply industry in Zimbabwe. He has worked in the various divisions of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA), ending up as Chief Executive, a position in which he served for 14 years until his retirement in May 2006. He was responsible for turning around the parastatal to be one of the major corporate performers in Zimbabwe
Among his major achievements are the computerization of the distribution network control system for the City of Harare, the reinforcement and extension of the distribution networks into high density suburbs of the city, the esytablishment of a sustainable rural electrification program, establishment of the corporate planning department of ZESA, the planning and implementation of high voltage interconnections in Cahora Bassa (Mozambique) and Matimba (RSA), facilitating role in the establishment of the Southern African Power Pool and laying the ground work of the reforms of the power industry in Zimbabwe. Simba has undertaken consultancy for the World Bank and the Nigeria Electrical Power Authority (improvement of revenue collection and load management): IFC and the Government of Mozambique (selecting a developer for proposed Moatize coal mine and power station): He brings to Frontier unequalled knowledge and skills in the energy/power sector.
