Christopher Urombo-Hokonya (Dr.) (Non-Executive)
Chris is the managing director of Alpha Asset Management (Pvt) Limited, a successful fund management company with over 2000 clients. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of the Doves Group of companies. Between 1999 and 2001, Chris was the Chief Economist of Botswana listed African Banking Corporation Holdings and was responsible for research in six countries, namely, Zimbabwe , Zambia , Tanzania , Mozambique , Malawi and Botswana .
Between 1995 and 1998, Chris was employed as Senior Manager, Global Division, of the Samsung Group of Companies, Seoul , Korea . He was part of a team responsible for identifying global business opportunities. The Samsung Group invested in a wide range of business including telecommunications, construction, semiconductors, medical technology, mining and insurance. Chris was directly involved in the introduction of GSM cellular phones in the European market as well as winning a contract for copper mining in Kazakhstan in 1996.
1992 to 1994, Chris was the Marketing Director for the Duksan Group and responsible for exports of computers and other technology products to Eastern Europe, South America and Africa . 1990 to 1992, Chris worked for the Daewoo Group, Korea concentrating on emerging markets business development.
Chris is holder of a BSc in Natural Sciences from the University of Zambia : PhD in Economics from Seoul National University , Seoul Korea and an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Wales UK |
